Modern Farmhouse
Rolesville, North Carolina
project finished 2013
The Modern Farmhouse sits on a lovely site 20 miles outside of downtown Raleigh, peeking out from its wooded perch onto the plant rows and apple orchards that occupy most of the 29 acre site. The family, having recently started an organic farm, wanted a functional space that would fit their lifestyle, without sacrificing much of what they loved about living in the city.
The house was designed by local architecture firm, in situ studio, who thoughtfully placed it on it's site, gave a modern twist to vernacular forms of the area.
Second Mile Design was able to help select many of the finishes, paint colors, and all of the light fixtures. Kris was out on site during construction to guide installation, and worked regularly with both the Owner and Architects to make sure all interior design decisions complimented and enhanced the architectural intent.
